Trust is like money in the bank

"Trust is like money in the bank, the more we have, the richer we are."

By Catherine Wijnberg

When I was just starting out in business, I asked my father what the key to success was. His answer was simple. ReliabilityBy that, he implied that in business we need to do what we say we will do and be known for delivering the same service on time, every time. When we are reliable, people can trust us. This is part of the golden triangle of business: trust, value, and service.

While value means ensuring that our products are worth what people pay for them, and service is the ease and enjoyment clients feel when dealing with us, trust is the sense that we can be relied on to do and say what we promised.

We like to deal with those we can trust, brands we can rely on, and suppliers we know will deliver because this allows us to focus on other things without worrying that we will be let down.

Trust takes years to build and can be destroyed in an instant, so it needs to be handled with great care and reverence and should never be taken for granted. Trust is like money in the bank, the more we have, the richer we are.

So, let’s nurture those things we can trust in our lives, and value the trustworthiness we show to others so we can go out into the world stronger and more confident than ever.
