Entrepreneurship gives solution-orientated individuals an opportunity to solve problems plaguing communities. Naledi Kgoadi was inspired to start Bophele and Ditiro Trading because he noticed that many buildings were no longer accessible and safe for his community because they were neglected and in disrepair.
In a radio interview on Tuks FM, Naledi spoke about his entrepreneurial journey and its positive impact in his community.
“I started Bophele and Ditiro Trading because I wanted to help my community by solving the problem of dilapidated buildings and to provide jobs”. Today his facility management company specialises in providing comprehensive maintenance services to ensure that infrastructures remain functional, comfortable, and safe for people who live and work in them.
The former electrical engineer turned entrepreneur uses his expertise to lead a company that provides comprehensive maintenance services that include landscaping, cleaning, plumbing, recycling as well as electrical and mechanical services maintenance.
Despite the positive and impactful work done by Naledi and his team since 2012, the business is still facing challenges. “Our main challenge is there is a lack of competent personnel, and as a result, it is hindering the business from venturing into bigger markets.”
Naledi adds that to overcome these challenges he remains focused and positive even when times are tough. This positive mindset has paid off because he was able to build offices to work from; this is a huge milestone for a small business.
This black and youth owned innovative business has plans to help building owners implement environmentally conscious solutions. “Our growth corporate strategy is focused on introducing sustainable solutions and finding more long-term contracts like the one we have with Unisa.”
South Africa’s entrepreneurship landscape is full of opportunities for people who think out of the box and want to start innovative business models like Bophele and Ditiro Trading. His advice for people who want to follow in his footsteps is to remain focused and to dream big.
